The current developer behind the second season of Killer Instinct, Iron Galaxy Studios, has now released a few more details about the upcoming fighter and a little teaser image that showcases some physical aspects of the forthcoming combatant. According to the dev, the new brawler is known as Omen and once occupied the body of Shadow Jago before amassing enough power to leave the zombie-esque husk and emerge in his own form in the real world.

Working for the notorious being Gargos, this right-hand man is a bonus character that’s not part of the eight fighters planned to be released throughout the duration of season 2. Instead, those that have invested in the pass will receive this winged brawler for free and can still look forward to four more fighters being added in the coming months.

Although a unique freebie with an ample amount of story relevance, Omen will also utilize a familiar, yet different, moveset that anyone who’s been enjoying the game thus far will recognize. Some normals will be coming straight from Jago, but there will be a handful of new ones as well – plus a few maneuvers that are being ripped from Shadow Jago’s boss encounter. Overall, Omen has the potential to be a great zoning character thanks to his wide array of attacks.

Despite lacking a full on reveal, this new challenger is a nice surprise for those who’ve invested in Killer Instinct Season 2. It’ll be even more interesting to see how Omen ties into the story of KI in terms of interacting with the existing fighters around him, but Iron Galaxy Studios wanted to clarify that the character himself will not have his own unique fight-based tale in story mode – at least, not in this season.
